I had a problem with a Windows XP PRO Remote Desktop host. No one could connect
to the machine either locally or remotely. There was no error on the client
- it would try to connect and then just go back to blank or return to the connect
screen.

On the host, I found an error that RDPDD.dll failed to load in the event logs.

The problem seems to be with the video driver.

This registry key that increases the size of the session image space solved the problem

You may receive the message in a Window titled "Setup Error" that says Error "Setup.rul

The error “Setup.rul “380″” Is caused by not having .NET 2.0 or higher installed.
This is because the Software that controls the card is trying to be installed with
the driver also. Installing only the driver will work as well.

In order to fix this issue without installing .NET 2.0 or higher please follow these
directions. Also remember what the folder name is associated with the Wireless
driver you downloaded. It will be RXXXXX. In the case of a Vostro 1520 with
Dell Wireless card 1397, the directory is R219313.

This is easily fixed by installing just the driver. Right click “My Computer” then
click on “Manage” Then click on “Device Manager” Then right click on your wireless
network card. You will then need to click on “Update Driver”. A box will pop up. Click
on “No, not this time”. Now click “Next”. Now click on “Install from a list or specific
location (Advanced)”. Now click on “Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install.”
In the list select “Network Adapter” and click next. Now click on “Have Disk”. Now
click on “Browse”. On the left side click on “My Computer”. Now go to “C:\Dell\Drivers\RXXXXX\”
NOTE: You may see that it has a lot of folders. Select the folder that’s best for
your install of Windows. Then when you do this you will be left with one file to select.
Select that file and click ok.

The system will then only install that driver. You won’t get the Dell Wireless software
installed with it, so you should use the Microsoft interface to configure your wireless
networks. To enable the Dell Wireless software, install .NET 2.0 or higher and
re-run the driver setup.

                There are times when you need to allow applications
to relay through your Exchange 2007 or 2010 Server. These steps give two options
for allowing this.

                Allow all computers which successfully authenticate
to relay, regardless of the list above

Like its predecessor, Exchange 2007 is configured to accept and relay email from hosts
that authenticate by default. Both the "Default" and "Client" receive connectors are
configured this way out of the box. Authenticating is the simplest method to submit
messages, and preferred in many cases.

The Permissions Group that allows authenticated users to submit and relay is the "ExchangeUsers"
group. The permissions that are granted with this permissions group are:

                NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users {ms-Exch-SMTP-Submit}
NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users {ms-Exch-Accept-Headers-Routing}
NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users {ms-Exch-Bypass-Anti-Spam}
NT AUTHORITY\Authenticated Users {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient}

The specific ACL that controls relay is the ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient.

                Only the list below (specify IP address)

This option is for those who cannot authenticate with Exchange. The most common example
of this is an application server that needs to be able to relay messages through Exchange.

First, start with a new custom receive connector. You can think of receive connectors
as protocol listeners. The closest equivalent to Exchange 2003 is an SMTP Virtual
Server. You must create a new one because you will want to scope the remote IP Address(es)
that you will allow.

The next screen you must pay particular attention to is the "Remote Network settings".
This is where you will specify the IP ranges of servers that will be allowed to submit
mail. You definitely want to restrict this range down as much as you can. In this
case, I want my two web servers, 192.168.2.55 & 192.168.2.56 to be allowed to
relay.

The next step is to create the connector, and open the properties. Now you have two
options, which I will present. The first option will probably be the most common.

                Option 1: Make your new scoped connector an Externally Secured connector

This option is the most common option, and preferred in most situations where the
application that is submitting will be submitting email to your internal users as
well as relaying to the outside world.

Before you can perform this step, it is required that you enable the Exchange Servers
permission group. Once in the properties, go to the Permissions Groups tab and select
Exchange servers.

Next, continue to the authentication mechanisms page and add the "Externally secured"
mechanism. What this means is that you have complete trust that the previously designated
IP addresses will be trusted by your organization.

Caveat: If you do not perform these two steps in order, the GUI blocks you from continuing.

Do not use this setting lightly. You will be granting several rights including the
ability to send on behalf of users in your organization, the ability to ResolveP2
(that is, make it so that the messages appear to be sent from within the organization
rather than anonymously), bypass anti-spam, and bypass size limits. The default "Externally
Secured" permissions are as follows:

                MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-Bypass-Anti-Spam}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-Bypass-Message-Size-Limit}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Exch50}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-Accept-Headers-Routing}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Submit}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authentication-Flag}
MS Exchange\Externally Secured Servers {ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Sender}

Basically you are telling Exchange to ignore internal security checks because you
trust these servers. The nice thing about this option is that it is simple and grants
the common rights that most people probably want.

                Option 2: Grant the relay permission to Anonymous on your new scoped connector

This option grants the minimum amount of required privileges to the submitting application.

Taking the new scoped connector that you created, you have another option. You can
simply grant the ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient permission to the anonymous account.
Do this by first adding the Anonymous Permissions Group to the connector.

This grants the most common permissions to the anonymous account, but it does not
grant the relay permission. This step must be done through the Exchange shell:

                Get-ReceiveConnector "CRM Application" | Add-ADPermission
-User "NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON" -ExtendedRights "ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Any-Recipient"

In addition to being more difficult to complete, this step does not allow the anonymous
account to bypass anti-spam, or ResolveP2.

Although it is completely different from the Exchange 2003 way of doing things, hopefully
you find the new SMTP permissions model to be sensible.

wanted to share this. Below is a great low-level illustration of what actually
happens when a computer is infected by a virus.

The
latest viruses are those pesky ones that try to tell you there is a virus on your
machine and try to get you to buy software, etc. These are all FAKE and intended
to get you to put in your credit card number so it can be STOLEN. However, some
people are under the false assumption that if they ignore the issue, it will go away.
This is horribly wrong. ANY (I said ANY) piece of rouge software installed on
your machine is dangerous. This illustration shows just one of the things that
the rouge software can can do - it can turn your machine into a remote-controllable
BOT intended to be used to send out SPAM or do other large-scale attacks often without
you ever even knowing. If you ignore these issues you leave
yourself wide open for Identity Theft, data theft, etc. We all store information
on our computers and most if not all of us in the modern world use the computer to
do some sort of financial transactions on the Internet. If one of the components
of the rouge software is a keylogger, without knowing, you are sending every single
letter you type to an off-site location to be collected, indexed, and inappropriately
used by cyber criminals. This all happens in "a blink of the eye". I just
watched a Sophos web seminar on the latest rouge/fake antivirus viruses. There
are reports that these viruses are now mutating at a rate of 10,000 - 20,000 TIMES
A DAY. The engine at the core of these viruses can enter your machine and search
for 15-20 application vulnerabilities (Adobe, Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer,
Microsoft Office, etc) and attack any one of the vulnerabilities that it finds within
seconds - all because you viewed a "safe" web page that had malicious code injected
into it.

What
can you do? Get Clean, Get Protected, Stay Clean.

Get
clean - hire someone competent to professionally clean
and check your computer. Viruses hide everywhere and the only way to ensure
a successful clean is a multi-pass scan solution using several different scanning
products. Your cousin, neice, son, nephew, neighbor, husband, wife, etc is NOT
sufficient unless they are in the industry and are constantly studying these viruses
and how to clean/prevent them. Its YOUR DATA. It HAS VALUE.
Do NOT COMPROMISE.

Get
protected - purchase an AntiVirus solution or use one of the free solutions provided
by Avast, AVG, etc. These programs are changing almost daily - use the Internet
to search for reviews of the latest "top 10" or hire a professional to consult you
on what is best for you.

Stay
clean - Even the best Anti-Virus may not catch everything because of the high volume
of mutations. If you notice any infections or weird pop-ups, etc, - chances
are, your computer is infected. DO NOT IGNORE IT - it will only get worse.
Once a small piece of any rouge software has infiltrated Windows, it will talk back
to its "home-base" and teach itself how to hide from even the best AntiVirus programs,
inform "homebase" that it has conquered a machine and wait for "homebase" to send
additional software, etc to the machine, or to remote control the machine, or to gather
data from the machine and send it back to "homebase". One small rouge piece
of software can be the pin-hole in any security strategy that allows more and more
malicious software to be installed.

I had an issue with a Small Business Server SBS 2003 to SBS 2008 migration where once
everything was up and running, I had problems with Outlook 2007 Clients giving certificate
errors. Also, OWA Outlook Web Access would redirect to http://sites/owa.
The problem was the internal and external URL settings on the various transports in
Exchange 2007. This powershell script helped to fix the problem. Note,
some errors occurred for me but I was able to just step through the code and issue
the commands to the Exchange Shell manually to get the job finished. The main
problem was the AutoDiscover Internal URI - once that was fixed the rest fell into
place.

As you probably knew, or do now since you are searching for this information, Exchange
2007 requires a UCC Multi-Domain SSL Certificate to properly function. Here
are some tips for setting it up.

-Pick your favorite vendor to purchase the UCC SSL from and make the purchase

-Generate the request from the Exchange 2007 Server. To do this, open the Management
Shell and issue the New-ExchangeCertificate command. A great tool is provided
here: https://www.digicert.com/easy-csr/exchange2007.htm.
You can use this tool to generate the request and it will save the information to
a file in the path you can specify or leave default

   For Example: Lets say we have an Exchange 2007 Server whos
Internet Address is mail.rockabilly.com and its local domain address is exch07.rockabilly.local.
I would also include remote.rockabilly.com,
rockaserver.rockabilly.local, autodiscover.rockabilly.com, autodiscover.rockabilly.local
in the list of requested names. Feeding this into the tool yields the following
request:  "New-ExchangeCertificate

remote.rockabilly.com, pcrserver.rockabilly.local, autodiscover.rockabilly.com, autodiscover.rockabilly.local
-PrivateKeyExportable $True" Copy and paste this request into your Exchange
Server Management Shell and it will spit out the request to c:\mail_rockabilly_com.csr.
Open this in Notepad and copy and paste the request into the request fields at the
site where you purchased the SSL cert.
